Maritime Mosaic

The historic port of Civitavecchia is the 'port city of Rome' and the maritime gateway to central Italy. The port is a popular cruise destination and also a key ferry port serving the western Mediterranean, linking Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, Barcelona, Malta and Tunis. As well as tourism, the port also has significant container, bulk cargo and fishing industries. This selection of photographs by Alan Moorhouse shows some of the passenger vessels currently using the port.
