One of the more unusual ro-ro vessels in service in UK waters is the nuclear transporter Atlantic Osprey, which has been transporting radioactive materials since 1996. She is owned by the UK government's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and operated by their subsidiary International Nuclear Services (INS) in conjunction with another subsidiary, Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd (PNTL), in which INS has a controlling 62.5 per cent stake and which it owns with the French and Japanese Nuclear companies.
