Anthem of the Seas Second Quantum class cruise ship debuts

The new Quantum class cruise ship Anthem of the Seas made her debut at Southampton on 15 April, heading to the cruise port with the usual tug and small craft escort, and crowds along the shoreline witnessing the event. The new ship is the latest RCI newbuild, and the 23rd ship in the RCI fleet, with the company also claiming she is the most technologically advanced cruise ship, a claim made for sistcrship Quantum of the Seas late last year. Whatever the merits of the claim, RCI continue to expand, and another Quantum class ship, Ovation of the Seas, due to be completed in 2016, will be based in Australia for part of the year after an initial season sailing for the Chinese market, operating out of Beijing. RCI also have Harmony of the Seas, which will be the third Oasis class ship, due to be completed in 2018 and initially intended for cruising out of Barcelona round the Mediterranean.
