Russia's largest shipping company, Sovcomflot, has taken delivery of the LNG carrier SCF Melampus, the third LNG tanker in a series of vessels being built under a partnership agreement signed between Sovcomf lot and South Korean builder STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The first two tankers of the series, Velikiy Novgorod and Pskov, have already entered service with Gazprom, while the latest vessel, completed in December 2014, is expected to trade under a long-term agreement signed with Royal Dutch Shell for the Shell Sakhalin Ⅱ project. All three Atlanticmax LNG carriers have a load capacity of 170,200m~3 and are equipped with triple-fuel diesel- electric power generation systems. Sovcomf lot will receive the fourth LNG carrier in the series, SCF Mitre, in the second quarter of this year. Sovcomflot's Senior Executive Vice-President Evgeniy Ambrosov commented: 'SCF Melampus is a high-tech LNG carrier, one of the best tankers in its class, with a unique design and technical specifications.'
