Gallantry in the Irish Sea

Half a century ago, on 2 December 1966, a truly epic rescue was undertaken in the Irish Sea, involving lifeboats from Anglesey and the Isle of Man, whose volunteer crews demonstrated remarkable bravery and courage in the face of extreme conditions. The service to the Greek motor vessel Nafsiporos unfolded over the course of 24 hours and resulted in the awarding of no fewer than 17 bravery medals.
