Diana Shipping of Greece has been taking advantage of very low prices in the second-hand bulk carrier market to build up its fleet, which currently consists of a total of 45 ships. The company recently acquired the 75,700dwt Selina (ex-Sunshine), a 2010-built Panamax, which has been chartered out to Denmark's Dampskibsselskabet Norden A/S at a gross charter rate of $5,800 per day. At the same time, a second charter contract has been arranged with Switzerland's SwissMarine Services SA for the 164,218dwt Capesize bulker Norfolk at a charter rate of $4,350 per day. These charters, although at relatively low rates, are expected to generate $2.37 million in revenue during their minimum scheduled periods.
