Poland is one of a small number of European countries whose shipyards still appear able to do battle with Asia for conventional newbuilding. Leading Polish builder, the Stocznia Gdynia Grupa, is still bulging with series boxship newbuilding orders, mainly for the Germans. Among its latest completions are the 35,600 dwt, 2,730 TEU Westermoor and Commodore, expected to be handed over in August to Hans Peterson and Gebruder Winter.
