The Singapore-based specialist turbocharger repairer, Tru-Marine, has been kept busy recently with a series of emergency repairs to vessels in the Singapore region. The first of these occurred with a vessel experiencing a surging problem on route from the Arabian Gulf to Taiwan. The forward turbocharger was surging badly and the Chief Engineer had been forced to reduce rev/min to 64. Blower washing made no difference and as the surge pulsations worsened, the vessel diverted to Singapore.
