Cochin dry-dock planned with IHC help

The Cochin shipyard is planning to build a new drydock in order to achieve a two-fold increase in capacity.rnThe new facility, for which finance has yet to be sourced and which could lead to a 50% increase in production, is intended to focus on vessels operating in the defence and offshore sectors and specifically the dredging market.rnThe yard's orderbook currently includes some 18 vessels, including an aircraft carrier for the Indian Navy, which will be delivered by 2013. However, it is believed that the state-owned yard has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dutch dredger builder IHCrnMerwede in order to attain the required competencies and skills.
