German propulsion specialist Voith Schiffstechnik Gmbh (Voith Marine Technology) has significantly stepped up its quest to defend its share of the specialist propulsion market. Based in the town of Heidenheim in southern Germany, the company maintains its unique position in the field of marine propulsion with the well-known Voith Schneider cycloidal propeller and an increasing number of associated products. Thanks to its omni-directional capability the Voith Schneider propulsion system has long been popular with tug owners, ferry operators and many others requiring precise vessel control and positioning.
