Bunker supplier says it is committed to quality

ExxonMobil Marine Fuels has suggested that the bunker industry needs to focus on improving quality. Joe Rud, the company's general manager for international marine fuels spoke recently in Singapore about the company's own commitment in that region, and worldwide. Mr Rud emphasised his company's commitment to quality in bunkering, and applauded the work done by Singapore's Maritime & Port Authority (MPA). He offered to share the expertise and experience of his company, which he says is the world's largest publicly-traded oil company, to help raise quality standards worldwide and contribute in practical ways to raising the quality further in Singapore. However, he acknowledges that there is still some way to go, and there are still things which the industry needs to do to improve bunkering. One big issue, says Mr Rud, is the age and conditions of barges. The world's bunker barge fleet needs urgent renewal.
