Germans cut a SWATH in special sector

The prominent leader in the sector of late has been small ship specialist Abeking & Rasmussen in Bremen/Lemwerder, which has topped several busy years of SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) development by handing over Explorer to the German Navy (Bundesmarine). The 25m long Explorer was being used this spring as a 'demonstrator' vessel in a test program in the North Sea for the development of Germany's new remote-controlled Mine Hunting 2000 (MJ-MinenJagd-2000) system. After the tests, the ship was being taken over by the German Armed Forces Procurement Agency (BWB).
