Edward Mant of UK company Ultrawave outlines the use of ultrasonics for onboard cleaning of lube oil filters. Since modern diesel engines have been fitted to boats and ships they have all had lube oil filter cleaners installed in order to ensure the oil remains clean and unpolluted from metal fragments and sea water. As engine technology has progressed, these filters have progressed in line, with the paper filtration elements now making way for metal gauzes which can be removed and cleaned.
