FV Nessie J was seen as a long-term "spec project" for builders Stark Bros Ltd of New Zealand. More than just a timber construction, the vessel has an engine, pipe systems, trawl winches, a steel gantry and stabilising wings.rnThe fishing trawler is owned by Nessie J Fishing Limited and is to be manned by a skipper and one member of crew to catch and deliver fish to United Fisheries in Christchurch, although for five days per week the vessel will be based in Lyttleton.rnFV Nessie J features split hydraulic winches, but these are not computer controlled, and although the electronics package onboard is relatively basic, it is adequate for the job of a more traditional inshore trawler.
