Wartsila develops cleaner towboats

Wartsila announced in December that the company and USA-based Ship Architects, Inc. have cooperated on the development of a new environmentally sound towboat concept. The new concept employs Wartsilii 20DF and 34DF dual fuel engines for propulsion. Towboats are vital carriers of goods and materials, and an important element within the USA's overall transportation system. Current and future environmental restrictions on emissions are creating the need for a new 'greener' design for these vessels.
