De Hoop delivers minimum noise OSV

Shipyard de Hoop has successfully delivered its latest multipurpose offshore support vessel (OSV), Deep Helder, to offshore fleet owner SeaMar Subsea. Developed to undertake inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) work in both the oil and gas and renewables markets, the 64.8m loa OSV, originally ordered in March 2013, deploys diesel-electric engines in order to achieve what is gradually becoming less of a rarity within this sector - that is, the status of an environmentally accredited offshore ship. Following her handover from De Hoop's Foxhol facility in June, the Dutch-flagged Deep Helder has now commenced operations under the management of Norway's Deep Sea, which signed a five-year charter for the vessel. She is currently performing IRM tasks for Dong Energy.
