Cammell Laird starts work on Strangford successor

Cammell Laird, UK, has been awarded a £5.7 million (US$8.7 million) contract to build a new car and passenger ferry for operation between Strangford and Portaferry, Northern Ireland. The order, placed by the Department for Regional Development of the Northern Ireland Executive, will see the newbuild replace the existing ferry on this route, Strangford, after more than 40 years of service.
