The post-Brexit blues may be plaguing some UK businesses, but the superyacht sector is riding the crest of a wave at present. That's according to figures released by British Marine associate Superyacht UK, which calculates that UK superyacht industry revenue grew by 11.5% over the 2015/2016 financial year, reaching a grand total of £605 million (US$742 million). During this period, the sector contributed some £273 million (US$335 million) in GVA to the UK's GDP, representing a not insignificant chunk of more than 6.1%. The figures reveal that the UK superyacht sector also employs some 4,125 workers at present, constituting an increase of 4.5% on the previous financial year; half of all superyacht manufacturer respondents reported an upswell in staff numbers. The research also highlights the fact that 72% of respondents noted an increase in business activity over the past year.
