Shipbuilder Japan Marine United Corporation has launched and delivered a brand new, self-designed anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTSV), reported to be the first Japanese-registered, ABS-classed newbuild, as well as Japans strongest tug to date, featuring a bollard pull capacity of 150tonnes. Christened Kinkai, the AHTSV, which has been built to the specs of Japan Marine United's MX-A 150 class, was delivered to shipowner Offshore Japan Corporation, a joint venture established between K-Line Kinkai and Offshore Operations Co, Ltd, in March this year. Kinkai is tasked with offshore exploration and excavation work within Japan's EEZ, including offshore renewable energy facility support.
