Scorpion eyes up the commercial sector

Scorpion RIBs is looking to make further inroads into the commercial market following the commercial launch of its new 10.49m loa design, the Silurian 1080. The Lymington, UK-based manufacturer, which is traditionally renowned for producing high-specification, robust boats for the top-end leisure market, has already realised sales of the new Silurian 1080 range; initial customers include two island resorts catering for the ultra-wealthy. However, the seakeeping qualities and efficiency of the Silurian 1080, which extends the size of Scorpion designs, suggests that this new RIB class could enjoy much wider appeal utilising different above-deck configurations, Scorpion's managing director, Patrick Byrne, opines.
