Mixed influences

This issue, we feature two of the most high-speed boats we've covered in recent memory; each capable of reaching and maintaining-speeds of up to (and possibly beyond) 60knots and, to a degree, indebted to similar design influences, yet developed for entirely different purposes. While the prototype of Irish boatbuilder Safehaven Marine's XSV 17 (see pages 42-44), based on its Barracuda class, has been designed primarily for military and law enforcement operations, the proposed Project Italia 'hyper yacht' (see pages 56-57), designed by Italian architects PC Design and E.T Yacht Design, has been developed with recreational kicks in mind.
