Waterjet manufacturer Marine Jet Power (MJP) has been contracted to supply eight 500tonne patrol ship newbuilds, currently under construction for the Korea Coast Guard (KCG), as the KCG's fleet modernisation programme gets into full swing. This programme will not only bolster the KCG's activities - primarily, defending South Korea's coastline and combating and pursuing illegal fishing crews - but will also provide a welcome boost to the country's shipbuilding sector.
