Seamor Marine has supplied a Chinook-branded ROV to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) National Underwater Recovery and Training Center in British Columbia. The vehicle will support training for the recovery of dead bodies from the water, typically comprising an intensive five-week course. The Chinook's kit includes: a forward-mounted 720ik multibeam imaging sonar; an Imagenex 881A mechanical scanning sonar; an external temperature sensor; auxiliary lights; and a high-definition video camera. Robin Li, Seamor president, says: "Gathering evidence and searching for and recovering bodies underwater is extremely dangerous and difficult work. By using sonar sound waves to detect objects underwater, [the Chinook] allows police dive teams to reduce their time underwater and safely expand their search radius to depths that extend beyond divers' limitations."
