Colombo Dockyard, Sri Lanka, has been contracted to build a pilot station catamaran and a buoy tender for the General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI). Both vessels are due for delivery to Iraq in early Q2 2020, and both will be classified by ClassNK. The catamaran, which will be used to transport pilots and equipment around the ports under the GCPI's jurisdiction, will measure 50m × 18m, with a depth of 6.1m and onboard accommodation for up to 47 personnel. A pair of diesel main engines is expected to grant the cat a speed of 14knots. The buoy tender, meanwhile, will measure 60m × 12m, with a depth of 4.6m and accommodation for 29 workers. This vessel will be fitted with a 22tonne-capacity crane and will utilise two diesel engines to attain a speed of 12knots.
