Early March saw the Welsh Governments Marine and Fisheries department take delivery of a new patrol vessel, intended to grant this body high-speed response capability when combating illegal fishing in Welsh waters.The first in a series of three new patrol boats for the department, Fisheries Patrol Vessel (FPV) Catrin will be tasked with patrolling the Welsh coastline, an area spanning more than 1,205km. She has been named after Catrin Glyndwr, daughter of the last Welsh-born Prince of Wales, Owain Glyndwr. Construction, meanwhile, was handled over the border at Marine Specialised Technology's (MST's) Merseyside yard.
