A ratiometric fluorescent probe for fast detection of hydrogen sulfide and recognition of biological thiols

A new fluorescent probe based on the cleavage of disulfide bond and subsequent intramolecular cycliza-tion process was designed for the detection of H_2S. The selectivity was guaranteed by use of the unique nucleophilicity of H_2S.The impacts of biological thiols were neglectable and biological thiols could lead to a fluorescence emission band different from H_2S with longer response time. The probe was also applied to detect H_2S in living cells successfully.
