A novel disposable electrochemical sensor was constructed from a gold digital versatile disc (G-DVD) modified with graphene oxide decorated with Ag nanoparticles and beta-cyclodextrin (AgNPs@GO-beta-CD) for quantitative measurement of naproxen (NAP) in solutions. The surface morphology and elemental distribution of the electrode surface, were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry techniques were used to evaluate the analytical performance of the modified gold-DVD electrode to the NAP molecules. The fabricated sensor showed an excellent electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of NAP molecules. The calibration plot was linear within the concentration range of 0.4 mu M to 80 mu M of NAP. The limits of detection and quantification were found to be: 0.023 mu M (S/N= 3) and 0.08 mu M (S/N= 10), respectively. The reproducibility of the electrode was checked and the RSD value was estimated 2.5% and the repeatability of the developed sensor was evaluated and the RSD was obtained 3.2%. The proposed electrochemical sensor, was successfully applied for measurement of NAP in some real samples.
