Belize Registry eases mortgage registration

The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) under director general, Capt. Encarnacion Samaniego is to embark on an international roadshow to highlight how it has brushed up its legal provisions to become more attractive to shipowners. The New Act, as the end-2010 legislation is called, updates provisions concerning mortgages, salvage, limitation of liability of shipowners and maritime liens. The mortgage of vessels under construction is also further regulated.
