Super Hornet's Successor

The Navy first identified the requirement for a replacement for its F/A-18E/F Super Hornets in 2008. 1. The Super Hornets start hitting their 9,000-hour service life limits in the early 2030s. 2. The service released a request for information on the topic in April 2012 and preparations continue for an eventual analysis of alternatives. 3. One analyst believes the Navy will want a twin-engine aircraft, something it had to give up with the F-35 Lightning Ⅱ joint strike fighter.
