The next commandant of the Marine Corps realized over the course of his 40-year infantry career that being a Marine was much more than a job. "It's a profession. It's a mindset. It's a life," then-LtGen Robert B. Neller told the Senate Armed Services Committee during a July 23 confirmation hearing. The Senate on Aug. 5 voted to confirm Neller to succeed Gen Joseph E Dunford Jr. as the 37th commandant of the Marine Corps, with Dunford confirmed to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
