Crafoord Prizes Announced

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced 19 January the four winners of the 2012 Crafoord Prize in the fields of mathematics and astronomy. The two awardees in mathematics were Terence Tao of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Jean Bourgain of the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton. Reinhard Genzel of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany, and Andrea Ghez of UCLA will claim the prize for astronomy.
