RoboCup 2001 Seattle

The Fifth RoboCup 2001 was held in Seattle, USA, during August 4-10 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. One hundred and sixteen teams took part from 22 countries, including Japan, the United States, Germany, China, Spain, France and Australia. The President of the RoboCup Federation in a speech pointed out that "We are now celebrating the fifth anniversary of the RoboCup. This is an occasion for rejoicing. The number of participating teams and the number of countries is increasing and interest in the RoboCup is also mounting steadily. In particular, we are all astonished by the conspicuous quality improvements achieved in simulation. We introduced the sense of free competition in the RoboCupRescue section which was included this year for the first time." In the competitive games, matches were conducted in various categories such as small-size, middle-size, four-legged robot league and simulation league.
