Evolving US science and technology policy in a changing international environment

摘要

Recent changes on the international scene have been instrumental in the continuing evolution of USS&T policies. With the Clinton Admini-stration these policies are entering a new phase because of the change of administration, and developments in domestic and international af-fairs and in science and technology themselves. The role of the Federal Government is being increased, in partnership with industry, but with political opposition from the new Con-gress. The policies of the Clinton Administra-tion, if allowed to continue, are intended to reassert the competitiveness of the US economy.
