IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON WATER SUPPLY AND AGRICULTURE(CROP/WATER MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES AND EXTENSION DISSEMINATION)

Funded by the FHIWP, we have developed a text-less extension tool designed to allow non-literate farmers to access the power of the information age. The computer-based tool used sound climps, images, video clips and appropriate graphics, allowing non-literatre users to access information interactively. The pilot outlines strategies for limited resource farmers to improve irrigation efficiency, through selecting water efficient crops, improving efficiency of existing irrigation systems, or adopting low-cost high efficiency systems. The tool is designed so that it can easily be translated into diverse languages and dialects, and uses standard software, which simplifies adaptation to local needs.
