When we think about our planet, images of mountains and rivers, flora and fauna, and even the atmosphere and environment come to mind. But more often than not, we remain oblivious to what lies beneath our feet. The cross-section of the earth is commonly depicted as a static picture consisting of different layers starting from the crust (which is thin and fragile like an egg-shell), leading to the mantle (the main mass of the earth ) and ending at the core (which is composed of a liquid outer core and a solid inner core).
