BHOPAL AND OTHER DISASTERS REVISITED

Year after year this Day of December 2-3 returns to us, and along with that comes that dreadful memory when from one of the storage tanks of UNION CARBIDE FACTORY IN BHOPAL containing 40 tonnes of the deadly and highly toxic gas of MEHYL ISOCYANATE (MIC) accidentally spilled and leaked in the air. Soon it caught fire and the deadly gas spread in the air and moved in the direction of the wind. The gas tank containing deadly Methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked and got under fire that fateful night of December 2-3,a984 in the Union Carbide factory at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh which took a heavy toll on both life and properties.
