Years of record low satellite insurance rates could be coming to an end amid signs the pressured market is hardening after a string of sizeable losses. The potential for a €173m (US$190.5m) claim for the malfunctioning Eutelsat 5 West B communications satellite could be the final straw for the industry, worn down by diminishing income from a lack of large GEO orders. Work to restore an issue with one of Eutelsat 5 West B's two solar arrays was still underway at the time of this report.
