Put in short, Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) arernintegrated systems comprising personnel, operationalrnprocedures, equipment and regulations implementedrnby a competent authority to enable marine traffic to be managed in a given body of water.rnThese services range from the provision of simple information messages to ships, such as the position of other traffic or meteorological hazard warnings, to extensive management of traffic within a port or waterway. In general, ships entering a VTS area report to the shore authorities, usually by radio, and may be tracked by the VTS control centre.
