Prevention better than cure?

Piracy incidents appear to be as frequent as ever and show no sign of petering out. The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code has been a valuable tool in getting everyone to think about security but codes, procedures and paperwork won't stop pirates getting onboard. The code also only provides basic advice in protecting vessels against attack and many companies are choosing to employ more advanced techniques and specialist personnel in their attempts to attack piracy.
