Long Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT) implementation was one of the hot topics at the 86th session of the IMO's Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), which took place from 27 May to 5 June at the IMO's London HQ. John Murray, senior marine adviser at the International Chamber of Shipping and part of the LRIT working group, told SASI that with the 1 July deadline for full implementation so close, those hoping for extra time to comply were in for disappointment.
