Safety is an issue Denmark's AP Møller-rnM(ae)rsk Group takes seriously. "There's no doubt it is high on our agenda," Maersk Line chief executive Eivind Kolding said when SASI visited the group's Copenhagen headquarters.rnThese words have the virtue of being backed up by actions: Kolding became a crew member on one of his container ships in February to experience safety measures and precautions first-hand. It proved to be an eye-opener for the liner boss. "What struck me was the really high focus on safety," Kolding told SASI. "I participated in drills such as man overboard, fire drills and evacuation drills; safety penetrates everything they do."
