The training technology gap

Technological advances have made learning easier, but maritime training has yet to take full advantage of these innovations. The way to help institutions embrace technology is to set up a think-tank, believes Captain Rod Short, executive secretary of Global Maritime Education & Training Association (GlobalMET). He told SASI that the entire system of maritime education, training and certification should be reviewed by a panel of experts, made up of industry stakeholders with knowledge of maritime education and training.
