The South African Maritime Training Academy (SAMTRA) has launched its Auxiliary Boiler Familiarisation Course - Operational Level, which has been developed to provide training with an emphasis on the operation of marine auxiliary boiler and steam systems.rnTheory lectures and engineering simulator training methods are being combined to enable coursernparticipants to gain the skills needed to undertake auxiliary boiler watchkeeping duties in a modern engine room. The course satisfies aspects of the STCW Code for engineer officer of the watch at operational level and is aligned with the IMO model course for engine room simulator. The first of the three-day courses is scheduled to run from 12 July at the Simons Town-based training facility.
