The learning curve

On 1 November I was up a hill in the English coastal town of Dartmouth. This wasn't a holiday, for I was visiting Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC), an establishment that has been delivering officer training for more than a century. The facility is rich in history: Kings George V and George VI were cadets at BRNC and the Queen is said to have first met the Duke of Edinburgh at the college.
