The shipping industry has been told that it has to adapt to the changing nature of the piracy threat that plagues the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden. Speaking at a seminar entitled the Changing Dynamics of Somali Piracy, held in London in May, Tim Hart, analyst at Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants (MUSC), said: "Pirates are proving to be remarkably resistant to new tactic; being employed by shipowners and navies and are themselves engaging in a form of 'tactical Darwinism' to evolve, and adapt to new challenges.
