North Korea is to be fined up to $1M by the Panama Canal Authority (PCA) for failing to accurately disclose the cargo onboard a ship the agency detained in July, SAS has confirmed.The sanctions were announced by PCA CEO Jorge Quijano in September at an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first trial lockage of the Panama Canal, the PCA told SAS.Chong Chon Gang, a 14,000dwt general cargo ship, was seized on 15 July by Panamanian authorities after military equipment was found hidden under containers stuffed with thousands of tonnes of sugar. The haul included SA-2 surface-to-air missile systems and MiG-21 jet engines.
