An Australian pilot has voiced concerns over new arrangements for pilot ladders follpwingthe implementation of new IMO requirements.David Sadler said he stood in "stunned silence" after witnessing a pilot ladder swung over the side of a ship, catch in ocean surge, and slide aft. "It wasn't a threat to the pilot," Sadler told SAS. "No pilot would go near it. It was the crew I was worried about. We could end up with a man overboard, swept away at sea."
