A product tanker was hijacked and later released by pirates after being boarded in Abidjan, Cote d'lvoire, the ship's Nigerian owner Brila Energy confirmed. Gunmen hijacked ITRI shortly after midnight on 17 January. The crew was released off the Nigerian port of Lagos, but the ship was damaged in the attack, including the onboard tracking system being disabled, Brila's chairman Rowaye Jubril told Reuters.
