Marine Managers has pleaded guilty in the US to a two-count charge in a so-called 'magic pipe' oil pollution case involving one of its bulkers. The vessel operator, which is based in Piraeus, Greece, faces a maximum $500,000 fine on each of the counts. In addition, Matthaios Fafalios, the chief engineer of the vessel involved in the case, 75,607dwt bulker Trident Navigator, was indicted on three charges related to the incident, which occurred while the vessel was sailing in the Mediterranean Sea in December 2013.
