Amid continuing fears about the spread of the Ebola virus in west Africa, marine insurers have advised clients to ensure their crews take every precaution. Protection and indemnity (P&I) clubs have warned shipowners that crews need to be made fully aware of the risks the virus poses. There were 12 new cases and five deaths in Guinea alone between 21 and 23 July.
